Hot Market: Enterprise Networking Wireless LANs – Q2 Record Sales


Infonetics Research released some interesting excerpts from their Q2 market share report entitled “Wireless LAN Equipment and Wi-Fi Phones”.

With the surge of wireless devices being added to the network, enterprises are finding it necessary to build out thier wireless infrastructure. Infonetics reports the following Wireless LAN Market Highlights:

  • Worldwide wireless LAN equipment revenue jumped 19% sequentially in 2Q11, to $813 million, eclipsing the previous high of $754 million set in 4Q10
  • Year-over-year (2Q10 to 2Q11) WLAN sales are up 35% as broad-based demand for wireless network connectivity continues
  • North America had the strongest performance in 2Q11, both sequentially and year-over-year, driven by high smartphone penetration and tablet adoption
  • Cisco and Aruba maintain 1st and 2nd place for WLAN equipment revenue (excluding Wi-Fi phones), while Motorola surges ahead of HP to capture 3rd

In addition, the report suggests that the traditional wired segments will “continue to see subdued growth”
