Cisco Systems, Inc. Predicts the Internet’s Future
For those who do not read up on mashable.com, Cisco Systems, Inc. has put forth an ongoing effort to forecast and analyze the growth and use of IP networks and called it Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI). This section of Cisco has projected that global Internet traffic is expected to quadruple between 2010 and 2015. By 2015, 40% of the world’s population is expected to be using the Internet and the traffic may hit one zetabyte PER YEAR. One zetabyte is equal to one trillion gigabytes. That is 212,765,957,447 standard DVDs of 4.7GB each. You’ll find the embedded information graphic in this posting created by Nick Sigler on the data provided from VNI and other sources.
